Just a reminder about our attendance policy. If you have 2 no-shows for events, your daughter will be not be able to sign up to events for the rest of the year, and instead will be put directly on the waiting list. Too often, parents sign their kids up to grab a spot, but then either cancel last minute or just do not show up at all.

We understand that there are extenuating circumstances at times, but need to ensure that the girls who really want to come, and do show up, are given the chance to do so. Plus, the volunteers for the event spend a lot of time planning and supervising at the event, and I want to make sure we all respect their time and effort.

SQL and Databases

Please email Alyssa Van Kollem with any questions, thank you!

Event run by Varonis. Did you know that most of the world’s data is stored in something called a database? This includes your school grades, Yelp’s list of local pizza shops and music downloads on your computer. Databases contain tons of information. Finding the exact information you need can be like finding a needle in a haystack.

In this workshop, students will see what a large database looks like, how it is structured, and more importantly, how you can get the database to answer your questions! The lesson will be hands-on and focus on standard SQL statements that can be used with any database software.

Note: Please bring laptop and laptop charger. Upon arrival go to suite 150 and you will be greeted. Dinner will be served. Free Varonis swag will be given at the end of the workshop.

WHEN:

Tuesday, July 31 at 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (EDT)

WHERE:

Varonis, 2250 Perimeter Park Drive, Suite 150, Morrisville, NC 27560 United States

Storytelling is the basis of impactful media – from news articles to slideshows to videos. Starting with an idea, students will learn how to produce great stories the same way that collaborative newsrooms work (pre-production, production, and post-production). Using mobile devices, students will learn techniques to produce photo and video content.

Intro to Arduino Programming Workshop

Create your own LED sign display!

Event run by Parata Systems. Low-cost microcontrollers, such as the Arduino ($8-$25), have revolutionized the way we connect the real and virtual worlds. The credit-card sized Arduino board can be used in robotics to control sensors or create wearable technology.

In this workshop, students will get hands-on with their own Arduino creating projects using sensors and light displays. No coding experience is required.

Note: The workshop will begin with a tour of Parata and their robots! Girls will see where engineers design, manufacturing teams build, and technical experts support pharmacies across the country to help people lead healthier lives. Please try to arrive at least 15 min early so we can start the tour promptly in order to leave enough time to complete the workshop.

Registrants will be met with signs and a greeter. Please bring a laptop with Arduino IDE Software pre downloaded [https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software]. Snacks will be provided.
