The topic of digital accessibility has become one of great discussion in the last several years for website creators as well as for website owners. Despite the attention accessibility has gotten, the vast majority of digital experiences remain inaccessible in many ways to users with various disabilities. While the responsibility of delivering accessible experiences requires a full team effort, there are many aspects that fall to designers and developers.

In this workshop attendees will be introduced to different types of disabilities and how individuals with those disabilities use assistive technologies to help them navigate websites. We’ll build on this information by exploring some of the guidelines used to determine the accessibility of websites and through a series of short instructional and hands-on sessions attendees will learn to identify accessibility issues and basic techniques to make a website accessible to everyone.
