The four Visser sisters – Kayla, Logan, Jordan, and Hayley – are TechGirlz veterans. After getting bit by the entrepreneurial bug through our workshops and summer camps, they’ve started two businesses: KanineKookies, for homemade and healthy dog biscuits, and SwapShop, a kid-friendly website for swapping Artist Trading Cards, or ATCs.
This summer, in an effort to show the healing power of art, SwapShop is holding a special ATC Summer Challenge. Artists are encouraged to submit ATCs, which will in turn be entered in bi-weekly FaceBook contests for the month of August. There’s a cash prize for the ATC that garners the most likes, and at the end, all entries will be sent to child cancer patients. From their website:
“We’re four sisters on a mission this summer, hoping to raise money for SwapShop, to assemble and deliver art kits to cancer patients in children’s hospitals. We’re looking for other kids, around the world, who would like to make one mini work of art–called an Artist Trading Card (or ATC)–every other day for the month of August. They will make an ATC to fit each day’s theme (like “summer” or “candy”) and then email a picture of their ATC. All photos will be uploaded to the SwapShop Facebook page at one time, and the voting will be open for 48 hours for each theme. The artist with the most “likes” is the daily winner. The artist with the most overall likes for the full month of August will win the Grand Prize, awarded on September 1st.
