How have industries like athletics and fashion used 3D technology in order to revolutionize the product design and manufacturing process? The TechGirlz’s workshop on “3D Jewelry Design with Tinkercad & 3D Manufacturing” aims to answer this question and emphasize the various uses of 3D technology.

I assisted in this workshop on August 6th, 2020. It was my first time teaching this topic; however, I have assisted with other TechShops in the past.

In this workshop, my fellow volunteers and I discussed the tools used to 3D print as well as the uses of 3D printing. Then, the girls practiced 3D Manufacturing by designing their own bracelets using Tinkercad, a software that allows users to design 3D objects.

My favorite part of the workshop was being able to show girls ways in which technology can be combined with various fields. After all, I believe that one of the most unique aspects of technology is its adaptable nature, which allows it to be used to explore a wide variety of topics. Through this workshop, I enjoyed being able to spotlight one of the many ways in which technology is used in our everyday lives.

Through this TechShop, I learned a lot from the way the girls demonstrated creativity. They created beautiful, one-of-a-kind designs that are incomparable to the typical bracelets you would find in a store. To me, seeing their designs showed how designing is truly a creative process with endless possibilities!

For those who aspire to explore the world of 3D design, Tinkercad is an excellent starting point. After all, Tinkercad allows its users to use their imagination to design structures and practice 3D modeling.

Overall, when it comes to 3D design, there is never a right or wrong answer, so I would encourage folks to express their creativity!
