TechGirlz is partnering with the University of Pennsylvania to bring you a brand-new e-textiles workshop: Make a T-Shirt Constellation! 

This workshop teaches the basics of electric circuits and how to add them to clothing. Participants will create a glowing constellation by sewing LEDs, a battery, and a pre-programmed LilyTiny controller (left) to an astronomy-themed t-shirt. (LilyTiny is a quick and easy way to add twinkling lights to a project without any programming or a bulky Main Board. It’s also a great educational tool for showing a range of functionality without having to get out the computers.)

Participants are invited to show off their projects at the Franklin Institute’s Astronomy Night during Philly Tech Week!

The Philly Women in Tech Summit is an annual event for women in technology in the Philadelphia region.

The event in 2013 will feature top notch keynote speakers and workshops addressing UX, Cloud, Mobility, App Development, Security Social and Big Data. The theme is If Only You Knew! Our goal will be to make sure attendees know what information, technology and partnership is available to them and how far they can go with that knowledge. Come to meet and learn with other women involved in the Philadelphia tech community.

The Summit will support the Techgirlz organization. All proceeds from this year’s event will go toward assisting the charter of Techgirlz.

TechGirlz is partnering with Drexel University to bring you a new workshop: Introduction to Gaming.

Come learn the basics of video game design and development!

In this workshop, the girls will utilize industry-standard content development tools to create a single-player game. The interface of the game will allow for play on either the PC using the keyboard and mouse functionality. Students will learn the basics of game design and the state of the industry.
